The search for a 23-year-old Milwaukee mother has ended tragically.
Police announced in a news release that the body of Emily Rogers was unfortunately found Thursday after a several-day search. She was reported missing on May 1, and last seen on April 26.
"The Milwaukee Police Department (MPD) is thankful for all the community members that volunteered to search for Emily Rogers along with MPD. Unfortunately, Emily Rogers was found deceased this afternoon in St. Francis," the news release read.
Luckily, the investigation quickly turned up evidence that led police to make an arrest.
"This remains an open and ongoing investigation. Multiple suspects are in custody related to this investigation," the news release continued. "The Milwaukee Police Department sends our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Emily Rogers that are impacted by this tragedy."
Police in a news release put out Tuesday said that Rogers, 23, was last seen near her Milwaukee, Wisconsin, home. They said she was considered a "critical missing person."
"There is reasonable suspicion to believe her disappearance is not voluntary and/or she is the victim of foul play," police said.
Police have released few details about Rogers's disappearance, but a friend reportedly found her phone earlier in the week in some bushes. Police were then seen searching a nearby park.
Rogers has a 1-year-old daughter, Katie, who was originally reported missing as well. Police said Tuesday the child was found safe and sound.
A GoFundMe page was created to help her family with expenses. The organizer, Briza Pace, said that friends believe the father of Emily's child did something to harm her. The medical examiner's office report said Rogers' boyfriend was the last person to see her alive. Police have not arrested him on charges directly related to the murder.
Pace said that Emily is originally from Texas, and her mother, Amy Rogers, traveled from there to help with the search. She will now be left with only her granddaughter after the unfortunate outcome.
"Baby Katie will be moving back to Texas. She's still in need of some items," the GoFundMe reads. "The profits of the Go Fund Me are now not only going to baby Katie, but also bringing Emily back to Texas where she belongs, along with memorial/funeral costs."
