Jennifer Aniston has been confirmed to reprise her role in the upcoming sequel to Murder Mystery and will be reuniting with pal Adam Sandler.
The first installment of the Netflix comedy film was a huge success on the streaming platform and became the most popular release of 2019, garnering a 30 million viewership in the first three days alone.
Fans are excited to see what kind of shenanigans the duo will be dealing with on the sequel. Here's what we know, so far.
No other cast members have been confirmed yet, except for Aniston and Sandler, who will be reprising their roles as Audrey and Nick Spitz.
At the streaming giant's TUDUM global fan event back in September, it was announced that the tandem will definitely be returning for "another international adventure full of intrigue and hijinks."
There was also some indication that David Spade, who is Sandler's long-time buddy, will be joining them in the upcoming sequel.
Anna Kendrick has demonstrated her talents several times throughout her career.
No plot details have been revealed yet for the second film. However, some information printed on Production Weekly shows that filming locations include Hawaii and Paris.
The Spitz might be in for a more romantic ride this time, considering Paris is part of their itinerary.
Filming for the movie starts on January 2022 and production will be handled by Sandler's own Happy Madison Productions.
Jen and Adam's chemistry on-screen stems from a long-time friendship.
The two first started working together in 2011 romantic comedy Just Go With It. But even before that, they have already been good friends.
In an episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live, the buddies shared that they first met in a Jerry's Deli when Aniston was dating one of Sandler's friends. This was before they were big stars.
"I knew I was going to be friends with her," Sandler said in another interview. "I didn't know I was going to be making movies with her. We both didn't know that, we were young and we didn't have jobs quite then."
Adam's wife Jackie has no problem with his closeness with Aniston. In fact, she was watching during the filming of the first Murdery Mystery and even cheered on the sidelines, according to Sandler.
"The only awkward part is hearing my wife on the side going, 'Harder! Harder! Kiss her harder! Deeper!" he joked. "They (Jackie and the kids) watched the kissing. They love it. They love Aniston and they want her to have good things and they say, ‘Give her something nice.’”
